The Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.1 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.4 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.5 And the world was astonished at His doctrine: for His word was with power,6 by speaking the word only, many were healed,7 and spirits cast out.8
The entrance of His word gives light; and understanding to the simple.9 It is a lamp to your feet, and a light for your path.10 In His word we should hope11 and trust,12 for it is settled in heaven,13 and even when heaven and earth pass away, His words shall not pass away.14
He has magnified His word above His name,15 and when it goes forth out of His mouth, it will not return void, but it will accomplish that which He pleases, and it will prosper in the things where He sends it.16 And He that executes God’s word is strong,17 and in knowing their God, they will do exploits,18 for His word is truth19 and very pure,20 and it will stand forever.21 Meditate in His word,22 and it will strengthen you,23 but he that despises the word shall be destroyed,24 and his soul shall be utterly cut off.25
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,26 for it is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith,27 which sanctifies and cleanses you, like the washing of water.28 Hold forth the word of life,29 keeping the word of reconciliation,30 which is the engrafted word and able to save your soul.31 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.32
Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord,33 who uphold all things by the word of His power.34 His word is tried and true,35 and in sending His word, He healed them.36 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made.37 His word is right38 and endures forever.39 In fact, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.40
So desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow,41 taking heed thereto,42 hiding it in your heart, that you might not sin against God.43 For the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes.44
